Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
