The Australian chair of selectors the selector has confirmed that skipper Cummins will be a central figure in the upcoming historic rivalry.

Speculation had been growing that Cummins might miss the series due to a stress fracture in his back that remained unresolved.

Initial reports from the Australian camp suggested no official announcement had been made regarding Cummins' participation, with the extended contest set to start on the 21st of November in Perth.

"We're encouraged. [We are] really confident that he will feature a key capacity. With luck starting in Perth. If not, then we'll pick it up."

Bailey noted that he did not know if Cummins had begun bowling as part of his recovery but conceded it was "pressing" for him to recover fully for the opener.
