The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Showdown Against the Dodgers
George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their initial World Series since the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming championship.
"It's incredible for this squad, our city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
Springer has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that moment except for Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their work in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he remarked.
Toronto's team secured the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
