Just as bad weather tore through the north-west the prior day, the home side swept Manchester United aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing 3-0 victory for Andrée Jeglertz’s side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their championship potential as they consolidated their standing at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Defeats for Manchester United

This result signalled successive league setbacks for Skinner's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, placing them a significant margin off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's capability to juggle domestic and European soccer with a small team has been a hotly discussed subject since they earned a place in the Champions League.
