The Renowned Musician Encourages Support to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced following a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of well-known figures from the industry. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The song showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
