Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence
President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.
He added that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Devastating Shooting
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed reporters. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”
Community Support
Mourners gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in DC.
Remembering the Soldier
“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”
Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Actions and Government Revisions
Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The tragedy caused the government to pause asylum applications and cease issuing visas to holders of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she planned to visit his relatives.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
