A spending plan that would terminate the longest federal closure in American history is heading to the House of Representatives for a crucial vote on the coming day.

On day 43 of the budget deadlock, congressional members are returning to Washington to decide whether to approve a Senate package that would fund public services for the next eight weeks.

Republican leadership voiced optimism the budget proposal would be approved by the Congressional body, despite their narrow majority. But Democratic leadership vowed to oppose it.

"We're opening up our country," he declared on Tuesday at a Veterans Day event in Arlington, Virginia. "Shouldn't have been shut down."
